Paris View of Notre Dame oil on Board by Lillian Cotton 1950s Listed Artist

I have owned this wonderful School of Paris scene for over 30 years. It has always been one of my very favorites. Time to downsize. I am letting precious possessions go. Painted in the loose post-impressionist style so popular at the time. During this era artists from all over the world flocked to Paris, the epicenter of the art world.

Lillian Cotton was born in Boston in 1901, studied at the Art Students League in New York with Robert Henri and George Bellows, and at the Andre Lhote Academy in Paris. She was a member of The National Association of Women Artists, The New York Society of Women Artists, and The Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She exhibited at The National Association of Women Artists in 1946, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1930, The Corcoran Gallery of Art in 1930, The Paris Salons, The National Academy of Design, and The New York Society of Women Artists. Besides cityscapes, she was also a noted portrait artist and painted many society and celebrity figures of the day. She died in New York in 1962.
