Paul Nickle "Welsh"- Museum Interior or Warped Frame- Outsider Art - Folk Art

$245.00 USD
Description
A true outsider folk artist, Paul Nickle 1948-2008, was born in Newark and lived most of his life in Roosevelt, NJ.  His artistic pursuit started in the 1980s when he began imitating various modernist styles, painting on old materials and passing the works off as old.  His career as an art forger ended when he confessed to the collectors that had purchased the fakes that he was in fact the author.  Instead of being angry they encouraged him to continue, as the work had unquestionable merit in its own right. I agree. He never divulged why he signed his works “Welsh"
Oil on canvasboard 20" x 16". Total dimensions in frame are 24 1/2" x 20 1/4" Oh, and by the way, the frame is slightly warped just as the title says!
