At the Meadowbrook, Historic 40s Ballroom Drawing of Evelyn and George Siebert
Description
This wonderful sketch of a young couple at the famed Meadowbrook Ballroom in New Jersey in the advent of World War II, reminds me so much of my Aunt Mary who would have been about this girl's age then. It is said lovers could sit on the balcony and view the Manhattan skyline from this iconic hotspot. The artist sketched attendees as a romantic souvenir of their visit.
This little gem presents as an important and nostalgic piece of mid-century Swing-Era Americana. 16" x 12" pastel on paper, signed, titled, and dated 1940, under glass, in a gilt molded frame.
