Delivering the Pipe Organ oil on canvas 1960s Original Illustration
Description
What a thrill to discover a wonderful little gem like this. A Norman Rockwell style illustration painted in the 1960s of an old Victorian era pipe organ being delivered to Phil Croteau's Brooklyn Organ shop. Phil Croteau was a real-life organ tuner and dealer in mid-century Brooklyn. Phil looks pretty happy with his acquisition. Or is he smiling because he just made a good sale? The workmen have their work cut out getting that heavy organ in and out of that pickup. And the kids are fascinated by the whole process. The same goes for the dog and all the cats. The car in the background looks to me like a Rambler or maybe a Corvair. Full of exquisite detail, this original oil on canvas illustration is perfect for the organ enthusiast. Or, if I had a piano or organ store, I would proudly hang this in my office.
